Come and find yourself.
Getting away from it all; Breakaway; African bush holidays – these phrases have become buzzwords in the African tourist industry.
But are you really “getting away” from it all? Does a holiday in a 5-star lodge with all the mod cons - that happens to have been built in the bush - really meet the criteria for getting away from it all? Are you not in reality taking civilization with you in a vain quest to get back to nature?
This is what makes Ross-ini-Bos unique:
Situated in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve bordering the Kruger National Park there are no fences between the Ross farm and the Kruger National Park, meaning that animals can move around at will, and that the Big Five are regularly seen on the farm.
Accommodation in the bush consists of 5 rondavels (round African structures) each sleeping two people; and two square huts each sleeping four people.
The is a swimming dam (not a pool) with a deck and roof made of sticks; a social area with a thatched roof and barbeque facility; and an open boma (enclosure) made of sticks, where evenings around the campfire in the African bush become a reality. There is also a boma with a kitchen boasting deep freezers, fridge, and gas stove. Water for the open shower is heated in a donkey (drum).
There is no electricity, so all equipment work with gas.
There are various options for game drives, walks, and safaris on foot.
Imagine the unique early morning smell and sounds of the bush, a cup of fresh, hot coffee and rusks,
and then a game drive – followed by a late bush breakfast consisting of eggs, sausage, bacon, pot bread and more (most of the dishes prepared on an open fire).
Then you can laze around the camp, play jukskei (voke-pin – a popular traditional South African pastime), darts or board games, or catch up on your reading.
Late afternoon, after a light lunch, there is another game drive for those feeling active. On returning to the camp the campfire is already burning away merrily, while lanterns create a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere.
Dinner is prepared in the camp and enjoyed around the campfire. Tearing oneself away to go to bed tends to be difficult, because of the entrancing effect of the fire and the night sounds all around you - like the howl of hyenas, the roar of lions, and the call of the pearl spotted night owl.
Various options are available, including a Comprehensive Package or a Self-catering Package.
